The Atelier

Made in Sydney,
for the dark.

Haluminous began with a question. What would you wear to feel like the most striking person in the room, and the most yourself?

Haluminous is the label of Sydney designer Hannah Kim, a UTS fashion and textiles honours graduate who builds garments the way other people build arguments: carefully, and with a point of view. The work sits where gothic romance meets Victorian elegance, then pulls both into the present. Kim calls it street couture. Couture construction, a wearable modern edge.

The palette almost never leaves home. Black, then grey, then the cool shimmer of metallic celestial lace. Restraint is the whole idea. A near-monochrome wardrobe lets the cut, the drape, and the body do the talking, and it lets a piece move from a gallery opening to a late dinner to a stage without ever looking like a costume.

Every garment is sheer, draped, and sculptural, and every garment is made to order in Sydney. Sheer cotton, bamboo jersey, a soft wool and cotton knit, fluid stretch jersey. Ties that let you bind and rebind a silhouette. Hoods that fall to one side. Nothing is mass cut, and nothing is duplicated.

Emotional armour, created to support the wearer through moments of change.

The work has been shown where it belongs. Australian Fashion Week, first as New Generation with the collection Liminal Space, then as part of The Frontier at AFW Resort 2027 with Petal Nocturnal, supported by Create NSW. Earlier, London Fashion Week AW17.

The runway is the proof, not the product. What leaves the studio is a piece you can actually live in, cut for the nights you want to remember.

A story woven in fabric, where beauty and sorrow collide. That line has followed Haluminous from the start, and it still describes the intent better than anything else. The clothes are not here to make you disappear into a trend. They are here to make you feel armoured, and seen.
